The McComas Ratings' (MRATE) for teams are based on who won and who lost the game. Scores, game location, and other factors are not included.
The McComas Ratings' are a retrodicitve system and is not designed to predict the future. MRATE only cares if the game was won or lost and the quality of the opponent played. The algorithm is an adjusted winning percentage method that considers if the game was won/lost and weights the game based on the opponents strength. The ratings do not determine if Team A is better than Team B, but instead tries to determine if Team A is having a better season than Team B.
